One key aspect of the research and development wing of BioMetis is to promote eco-friendly biological solutions to problems that are global environmental and human health threats in this modern era. BioMetis aims at using its proprietary AIDME (AI-Directed Molecular Evolution) technology to conduct cutting-edge research. The AIDME technology of BioMetis is unique and novel. One of its key features is its accurate predictions using innovative algorithms that holds the key to reducing R & D time, resource, and financial burden significantly. The four main areas that BioMetis is currently focusing on are as follows.
1. Plastic degradation and recycling
2. Enzymatic deconstruction of other biopolymers
3. Development of next generation therapeutic proteins
4. Engineering of bioindustrial enzymes
This is one of the major focus of BioMetis Technology Inc. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is one of the major class of plastic and accounts for >30% global demand of plastic bottles. PET is recalcitrant to degradation and is a major ocean and land pollutant affecting millions of wildlife as well as human life. As of today, its recycling is less than 10% across the globe. The major roadblock in recycling is the availability of a sustainable process, its high cost and lack of attractiveness to compete with newly synthesized precursors from petroleum. The traditional recycling method of PET involves high energy and chemical consumption processes leading to increased carbon footprint. Recently a lot of attention has been given to recycling of PET bottles and fibers using enzymatic process. However, such methodology is still in its nascent form and requires pretreatment methods far too expensive to be commercialized. BioMetis aims at using its AIDME technology to pave way to a sustainable and cost-effective recycling process for PET. Using high throughput workflow, AI-directed enzyme discovery, enzyme improvement, and strain improvement modules, and cheap pretreatment processes, BioMetis is on its path to discover a unique methodology for effective and efficient PET recycling using green chemistry.
Biopolymers are natural polymers produced by living organisms. The three classes of biopolymers include polypeptides, polynucleotides, and polysaccharides. Enzymatic deconstruction of biopolymers using BioMetis’ advance AIDME technology as well as green chemistry to synthesize high value chemicals and intermediate products is also a research focus of BioMetis. BioMetis is working on various practical methodologies to produce precursors or end products (through several forms of biopolymers) that are extensive and able to be applied to multiple fields of (group these fields so no need to list) such as cosmetics, biomedical products, food industry etc.
BioMetis is deploying its AIDME technology to develop the next generation protein-based therapeutics including but not limit to antibodies. AIDME technology has a distinct advantage over traditional antibody engineering platforms. Under AIDME platforms, diverse antibody collections are designed and synthesized to deliver antibodies with the characteristics critical to creating high-quality therapeutics and mutation-property relationships, enabling effective learning by AI. In-depth understanding of the antibody fitness landscape and underpinning epistatic interactions leads to more precise prediction of high performing drug-like antibodies.
BioMetis harnesses its state-of-the-art AIDME technology to elevate bioindustrial products, with a key emphasis on crafting top-tier enzyme solutions tailored for a wide spectrum of sectors, encompassing agriculture, aquaculture, food processing, feed, household/personal care, and other bioindustrial markets. Forging a path towards sustainability, enzyme products designed by us serve as eco-conscious alternatives to traditional chemical processes. Engineered for peak performance, efficiency, and affordability, they function effortlessly without the need for extreme conditions, ensuring significant energy conservation and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
